Overview
QCA at IIIM, Jammu has developed an expertise in the specialized area of Analytical Chemistry, Food  Chemistry, Quality Evaluation of Natural/ Herbal products and finger printing of Herbal formulations.  As such QCA Division is engaged in the analysis of trace elements, heavy metals, aflatoxins and pesticide and VMP?s  residues in honey, water, soft drinks, alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages, herbal drugs, walnut and other nuts/ products for domestic/ export market and other food items like spices and condiments and animal/poultry feed etc.

QC&A at IIIM is recognized / awarded as follows:
NABL acccreditated laboratory for chemical testing as per ISO: 17025- 2005
National Referral Laboratory for testing of honey  for export to  European Union (APEDA / EIC )
Referral Laboratory for  testing of biopesticides (DOB)
Referral Laboratory for testing of  ISM drugs (AYUSH)

Missions and goals
To deliver basic and applied research outputs of international quality in selected branches of chemical and biological sciences.  ? 
To render analytical services of highest quality associated with degree of professional satisfaction and confidence to the customer. ? 
To Meet the requirement of the standard ISO/IEC 17025:2005 and other criteria of NABL. ? 
All Laboratory personnel engaged in testing activities undertake to familiarize themselves with quality documentation and implement policies and procedures in their work.
Societal :
Testing  & Monitoring of Quality of portable water  in the  state  
Assessment of industrials effluents especially effluents from pesticide  industries and its effect on ground water table, crops & population residing adjacent  to pesticide industry.
Services to honey industry in India, which has helped the country to check the export of honey with non-conformities which in turn could result in trade restriction.
Support to Scientists of IIIM in their projects by way of quality testing/quantification of marker compounds in their products and product intermediates at various stages of R&D.

MICROBIAL LAB

The microbial load of different sample i.e. medicinal plants, honey water, ayurvedic medicines, spices and food products is tested in the microbial lab. Detection of pathogens i.e E.coli, Salmonella, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococus aureus is done as per Quality Control and Quality Assurance limits and guidelines.

QC&QA  - SERVICE TO HONEY INDUSTRY IN INDIA:
Service to honey industry in India (for export to European Union) by implementing Monitoring Residual Plan of EIC, particularly drug residues, pesticide residues and metal residues in honey as  National Referral Laboratory for honey. 

QCA (IIIM) is monitoring the quality of honey exported to European Union by complete retesting and auditing of samples tested by:

2. Shirram Institute for industrial Research, New Delhi
3. Arbro Pharmaceuticals Ltd., Delhi
